Surgery and Prayer

Good Morning!

As we all face this new day we have been granted I ask a favor of you.

Please take a moment to reflect on your own life and be thankful for your health and wellness, the love you receive from others and that you are able to give back to them, and the strength you have to achieve your everyday tasks. Say a prayer of thanksgiving to our God for all He is and all He does for us.

 My husband is undergoing back surgery this morning. My prayer this morning is that God have his hand on the surgical team as they care for my love and deliver him back to me safely.

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me" has become my motto recently. I have needed a little extra strength, courage, and endurance to make it through some trials. God has lead me through them and I know He will again.

I wish you a wonderful day, love, strength and happiness!

So, if you have kids, your time is spent preparing to send them back to school, planning those last few fun days before back to reality, and getting your little ones (or big ones) back on a schedule. Whether you are sending off to kindergarten or college, it is an exciting and stressful time.

We have a nice little selection of desks that will fit any decor. They will look great in a boy or girl room!

No matter if you pull for the Tide or Tigers, we have baby items to aprons. Come by and check them out.

A knight in shining armor and other cool stuff

On a very much needed short little weekend trip with hubby, we found a quaint little store in north Florida. There he stood as we walked in the front door.

I had to have him!

Mr Knight, along with matching twin white wicker headboards, and a few other items loaded up in the jeep and made their way back to Hoover where they now call home.

I can't think of a better way to start my summer than having the first official day of business at my store! Tomorrow morning at 10:00 am we will be properly open for business!

It's Official!

It's official! We passed zoning last night and are ready to move forward with setting up and opening.
On top of the excited and stress of opening a business, having the location rezoned and dealing with government officials, the weather here was a bit harsh. Of course, I had to go check to be sure there was no damage at my little white house.

As I woke this morning to the realization that I really am a business owner, the very next thought that came to mind was, "My first official act as a business owner was to run out IN THE STORM to check on my building" It really is real, not a dream!!

Dealers, like myself, have been busy preparing everything from jewelry to repurposed furniture. Now it is time to move in! I can't wait to see what they have in store for our customers :)

This passage helped me through last night as I stood to speak to the zoning board and those who opposed my business plan:

James 1:12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Thank you God for holding my hand and my heart. I stood the test and am wearing my crown!

D-Day... Sort of

This has been a great weekend!

I refinished this dressing table from the 1930's. I was very worried how it would look but am really happy with it :)

 This piece has been loved by the same family for about 80 years! Kids and all, lol.

 There was even something resembling a melted purple candle on the top. I scrubbed and scraped for about an hour to remove all of it.

The mirror has a white film/discoloration on it that I can't seem to get off. Trying a couple more ideas tomorrow. Will post pics if it works....

Tomorrow evening is the zoning hearing for our new store. Everyone please cross your fingers and say a prayer the powers that be in Hoover find favor with us :)  We have worked hard and are ready to be open!

Excitement, praise, thanks and love

As I see the beginning of a new day, I realize the four elements of my life that are most important.

Excitement: Summer, beach and lake days are upon us. The kiddos are almost done with school. And we are ready to have our wonderful dealers move in so we can open! Amazing progress has happened at our little white house in a very short time.

Praise: I praise and thank God every single day for my friends and family. He has his hand on my Mamaw who has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, my husband who has major back issues, and my daughter's grandmother who is having some health issues as well. Please remember them all in your prayers.

Thanks: I do have WONDERFUL friends and family! From my great friend Kelli who is such an inspiration (and wonderful advertiser) to my daughter and parents in law who have worked just as hard as I have to prepare our store for opening. You guys are all awesome!

Love: I love my husband with all my heart! On top of being a perfect gentleman, he is supportive, trusting and helpful. I couldn't ask for anything more. He truly is my life, my heart, and my best friend.

I am off for shopping, painting, sewing and decorating today. May you all have a wonderful Friday!

Productiveness

I find myself being more and more productive everyday. In refurbishing my old house, I have learned I am much more capable than I once thought. Having learned to install laminate flooring, tile floors and play with power tools, I feel I can accomplish anything!

What a productive weekend we had! We are getting closer everyday and very excited.

One day closer

Yesterday was a very productive day at Past and Presents! Things are coming together nicely. I have to say a HUGE THANK YOU!!! to my parents in law. They have helped so much!!!  And to my good friend Kelli :) she has been a wonderful supporter and advertiser.

This is the house on Tyler Rd where Past and Presents is coming to life. Ordering signs, finishing floors and painting and getting ready to move in!

Brand New in Birmingham

I am so excited!! We are only a couple weeks away from opening a great new antiques and interiors store in the heart of Bluff Park. Some of the best dealers in town will be joining our family. We can't wait to see you!!
